Scottish Parliament Boundaries

Responsibility for reviews of Scottish Parliament boundaries passed from the Boundary Commission for Scotland to the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland with effect from 18 May 2017, under the terms of s.8 of the Scotland Act 2016. The reviews of Scottish Parliament boundaries conducted by the Boundary Commission for Scotland have been saved on this website. 

The modern Scottish Parliament came into being in 1999 as a consequence of the passage of the Scotland Act 1998.

The 73 constituencies for the Parliament were defined in the Scotland Act to be the same as the UK Parliament constituencies (1997 – 2005) at that time, with one exception regarding Orkney and Shetland. These constituencies and regions remained in force until the Scottish Parliament elections on 5 May 2011.

The Commission completed its First Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries in 2010 and its Second Review in 2025.

The Commission conducted an Interim Review at Robroyston in 2013 and Cardowan, Stepps in 2019.
