Our Fourth Statutory Reviews of Electoral Arrangements took place between 2004 and 2006 as required by the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004.
The Reviews resulted in the introduction in 2007 of a total of 353 multi-member wards for Scottish local authorities, returning a total of 1,222 councillors. The total number of councillors increased to 1,223 in May 2012 following our Interim Review of West Lothian council area.
